The vibrant coastal city of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil will welcome the global ocean community in 2027 for the next Ocean Decade Conference: a milestone moment to accelerate science-based ocean action and shape the legacy of the Ocean Decade.
This Conference will be co-organised with the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO in its role as the lead agency of the Ocean Decade, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) of Brazil, and the City of Rio de Janeiro.
It will provide a unique opportunity for the ocean community and partners to take stock of progress, present new initiatives and generate partnerships to create scalable and lasting impact during the remaining three years of the Decade and discuss the foundation of the post-Decade legacy.
The conference will be a three-day, in-person event for up to 2,000 people and will have scope for partners to propose and lead satellite events, exhibitions and networking events relevant to the conference themes.
