The 249th AAS Meeting is a major annual gathering organised by the American Astronomical Society (AAS) – one of the largest global communities of professional astronomers and space scientists – bringing together researchers, educators and students for a week of scientific exchange and collaboration. The meeting will be held 10–14 January 2027 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, and will feature a packed schedule of oral and poster sessions, invited talks, plenary lectures, town halls and special sessions covering the latest discoveries and developments in astronomy, astrophysics and related physical sciences.

Typical winter AAS meetings span the full breadth of contemporary astronomical research – from observational breakthroughs and theoretical advances to instrumentation, space missions and community discussions on education, careers and policy. Participants can expect topics ranging from exoplanets and cosmology to stellar evolution, galactic dynamics, and planetary science, all set against opportunities for networking and collaboration among thousands of peers.
